Attractions in China

With its ancient history China is filled with amazing attractions that draw tourists from all over the world.
 

One of the most popular attractions, of course, is the Great Wall in Beijing. The Great Wall has over 2,000 years of history when rival kingdoms began building walls around themselves as a source of protection.

Also in Beijing is the Forbidden City, which is the largest and best-preserved group of palaces in China. Throughout history 24 emperors called the Forbidden City home. There are over 9900 rooms in 900 buildings which makes it is impossible to visit every room.
 

Just outside of Xi’an is the Museum of Emperor Qin Shihuang's Terra Cotta Warriors & Horses. This museum hosts the large and exquisite Qin Terracotta warrior figurines that were discovered in 1974 by farmers from Xianyang, who were digging near Emperor Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum.

Some other main attractions include:

  • The Bund in Shanghai, which is sometimes called “an Exhibition of Buildings.”
  • The Potala Palace in Lhasa, symbolized Tibet and was the main residence of the Dalai Lama.
  • Dian Chi Lake in Kunming, a picturesque plateau lake that sits 1,886 meter above sea level.
  • Yellow Mountain just south of the Anhui Province, is famous for it’s hot springs, beautiful scenery, thick forest and strange stone
