Bus Buses are a cheap, reliable way to get around the islands. Local buses stop where required and can be waved down. They offer air conditioning and padded seats and go to all parts of Fiji. More expensive express buses only stop at official bus stops and designated towns. Taxi Taxi’s can be found at almost every corner in Fiji and are a very cheap way to get around. Taxi drivers can be negotiated with for lower prices, but an average cost per mile is $1.60 per mile. It is very recommended that you figure out your fare before you depart. Hint: The Nadi taxis are generally yellow, and the Suva taxis are white. If you are looking for a taxi returning to one of these cities, then you know which color to look out for. Ferry Services The Mamanuca and Yasawa islands have ferries that offer transportation three times a day from the island Nadi. Beachcomber Cruises, Pattersons Ferries and Consort Shipping run regular services to Vanua Levu departing from Suva, Natovi Jetty, Ellington Wharf or Nadi. |
