Government and Economy in Greece

The Greek government is a parliamentary republic. There is a head of state, the President, who holds a largely symbolic role, with most of the power belonging to the Prime Minister. The Parliament is unicameral (meaning there is only one chamber). Greece is part of the European Union and has a capitalist economy. In 2009, Greece had a nominal GDP of US $338,300 making the Greek economy the 28th largest economy in the world. The economy of Greece is based mainly on the public sector and the service sector, with a small percentage based on agriculture
