Albert Roberson

University: Kingston University
Degree Program: Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Why did you choose to study in the UK?

I chose to study in the UK because it would widen the possibilities of becoming an international entertainment lawyer and allow me to see clearer my goal of working within the USA and UK.

What has been the best part of your experience so far?

The best part of my experience whilst studying in the UK has been meeting people from around the globe.  I can now say that I have friends from nearly every country; Iran, Finland, Egypt, India, and Northern China to name a few.

What has been the most challenging part of your experience so far?

The most challenging part of this experience has been completely learning about another country's legal culture. Removing the American legal system from of my mind and replacing that with the British and EU legal system has been a challenge but one that was met with sword and shield.

What are your thoughts about Kingston’s LLB program so far?

Kingston's LLB program is bar none one of the best law programs and decisions I've ever made. The professors and lecturers are nearly all published and guide you through your degree with passion for the field of law and encouragement so that you can find where you fit into the system; be it solicitor or barrister.

What do you miss most about the U.S.?

I miss many things about the U.S. but the top three things are: Family, Taco Bell and the Florida beach sand!

What are some of the differences you’ve noticed living in the UK?

The differences can be seen as soon as you arrive in the airport, your restroom from America automatically turn into a toilet while in the UK, you'll need to get ready for the culture because there is a huge difference between that of America and the Britain. Also, the homes are very small and provide a minimal amount of space for all that live on premise.

How did you initially find out about the Kingston University’s program? What was your experience like applying through GlobaLinks Learning Abroad?

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad (formerly EuroLearn) helped guide me to Kingston Uni and the programs that were offered! I conducted research on my own and phoned Jodi at GlobaLinks whenever I needed additional information. The process and application were quick, and having a person like Jodi around to review my application comforted me while the application was being submitted.

Any advice and/or tips for students who are about to start their studies?

Come prepared to live your life!!!! Note that the education you receive here in the UK is one that will allow you to be more worldly and be seen as a global citizen. Start your program and set the standard for yourself! I'm going to be sending Jodi my grades before the summer with a huge thank you note attached. Because of GlobaLinks I was able to grow outside of my environment and see my career (1 year away).

My motto: "GlobaLinks Learning Abroad - Exceptional programs for Exceptional individuals"
