Ryan Johnson was interested in working during his semester/year abroad in Australia.  Students are allowed to work 20 hours a week in Australia during their study abroad with a valid student visa and a tax file number.  Ryan worked at an Italian restaurant called Fasta Pasta.

Why did you want to work abroad?

I wanted to get out and work in an entirely new environment and experience the working culture of Australia.

What are you hoping to accomplish by working in Australia?

I wanted to earn some income but now that I am working as a waiter I am actually gaining some really great work experience which I will be able to put on my resume.

How do you think this will enhance your time abroad?

I have more structure in my week, and I'm not just hanging around everyday! It has also gotten me into the Australian culture more than I had anticipated.   

Why did you choose Griffith University-Gold Coast?

It was close to the ocean, Surfer's Paradise, and a great school with a lot to offer!
